Marvelous Mexican Penthouse

On the 15th floor of a 1970′s Mexican colonial style building, the PPDG Penthouse, designed by Hernandez Silva Arquitectos, positively pops with vibrant red gloss finishes against a fresh white backdrop. The old construction of columns and slabs, located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, provided the perfect basis for the elimination of walls to create one overall expanse of living space filled with light via a new installation of large, frameless windows.

The brief was to create a modern space whilst remaining respectful to the original architecture, which presented the conundrum of how to develop the facade with a contemporary feel without ruining the romance of the building; the end solution was to respect the ceilings, only adding a light white canopy that would not compete with the existing elements.

Jorge Méndez Blake’s mural adds dimension to the plain living area; texture has been favored over pattern in this home, and the various changes in surface composition plays with light to great effect.

Moveable screens were installed in the center of the master bedroom to allow the space to be divided into two sleeping areas when required.

The kitchen is partially screened from the lounge area beyond a stretch of bright red units, whilst a run of white cabinets separates the hallway stairs and elevator. A second elevator was intended for the finished project, but instead, a cloakroom was created with a glass floor that looks straight down the 15-story drop!

Cubism In Interior Design

This style used by Gemelli Design Studio is reminiscent of the cubism art movement pioneered by Pablo Picasso. With cool colors and quirky abstract lines they present the room from multiple view points and make a mockery of perspective. There is no doubt that this would entertain the eye for a time, but the question is could you live in a place like this on a permanent basis?

If you think this level of zaniness would drive you slowly crazy, or the topsy-turvy feeling might leave you feeling a little design drunk–like the set of a big brother house–you might still appreciate these as a fun place to spend a weekend, the unique look is definitely a refreshing change from the usual safe neutral palette and plain walls.

This wild kitchen appears as a disco of stationery green laser beams, certainly not a place you’d like to face with a migraine, in fact that is probably true of every room in this design style, but on the other hand the energized interior would give you a boost in the morning, who needs coffee with all this going on!

The complication of angles cleverly throws off all dimensions too, adding interest, and dividing even the smallest space into a maze of zones, which makes a tiny room appear bigger by distracting the eye from the real proportions.

Travel Themed Bedroom for Seasoned Explorers

These masculine bedroom visualizations, from Viz Art, have a very distinct hint of world traveler about them, peppered with maps and yacht sail-like geometry, boat souvenirs and ocean imagery, to make an experienced explorer feel right in their comfort zone.

Wood clad walls give the generously proportioned room a cozy cabin feel, reminiscent of times gone by whilst still remaining on trend with modern home interiors. Scattered soft light sources create an intimate atmosphere for lazy evenings plotting the next big adventure, whilst task lighting is available to shed a brighter light on the all important passport search and rescue mission.

A canvas above the bed holds an action shot of a yacht on the waves, to sail who rests below off to dreamland.

This room has been split into two parts with a half partition wall and retractable doors, to allow the space to flow as one large area, or section off the home office area once the transport arrangements and itinerary for upcoming excursions are all done and dusted.

A map mural behind the desk space provides a constant reminder of all the destinations yet to discover, and all the places that teem with fond memories of trips gone by.

New Designs From Italian Company Tumidei

These exciting bedroom designs, by Tumidei aren’t just full of vivacious color and quirky style, but conceal superb storage ideas, ideal for all of the paraphernalia that comes along with kids and teenagers. The rooms also look at practical solutions for much needed study areas to keep your youngsters focused and organized.

Camouflage print provides an edgy option for pattern over expanses of wardrobe doors, which are typically on the plain side. Steps up to a raised platform bed turn on a pole axis to allow them to also be utilized as a small library ladder at the neighboring shelves.

This highly contrasting color combination provides an energy charged surrounding, and floating display unit promotes a feeling of space by exposing more floor area. The bed is installed on an interesting diagonal, where the angled headboard wall conceals a generous storage cupboard that is accessible when the bed is rolled aside on its castors.

This high level bed sits atop deep cupboards, leaving no excuse for clutter.

The desk and bunk in this room design are mounted against wall runners, allowing variation of space between areas as needed, and also allowing the study area to be tucked beneath the bed completely when not in use.
