Casual Loft Style Living

Fledgling designer Maxim Zhukov has created these wonderful visualizations of a trendy young loft space, full of the type of casually ‘thrown-in’ style that just works.

The bedroom sees a mini mezzanine level, to make use of the lofty ceiling height, which is utilized as a small study area. The separation of work zone from the bedroom area creates a more relaxing sleep space once the busy day is done.

A distinctly industrial style runs throughout the living and kitchen areas, with exposed wiring and ducting above a large extractor fan looming over a modern kitchen island, and the familiar black and yellow sign strips that are usually seen on building sites. The furniture in these spaces does however have a softness about it that offsets the coldness of exposed brick walls and the angular junctions of utilitarian aspects.

A more dressed dramatic look blankets the bathroom, with dark tiling over walls and floor, brightened only by the punctuation of white sanitary ware. The stark contrast results in an extremely crisp and tailored look, and the addition of a vanity shelf clad in the same large tile makes everything appear seamless, as though the fixtures have organically emerged from the walls themselves.

Terrific Young Teenager’s Rooms

Teenagers are hard to please, but this gallery of goodies is bound to put a smile on their face; gorgeous spaces for girls, and cool lad pads full of fresh ideas and new colorways.

This hot pink and cool gray combination creates a vibrant but balanced scheme that despite its shocking slashes of color does not appear overpowering.

The attention grabbing storage shelves flank every available space, keeping teenage clutter off the floor and schoolbooks at hand when studying.

The neutrally hued walls are given character with the addition of a typographical theme, which is both fun and stylish, and cleverly draws the eye away from what could have appeared as an unsightly bulkhead.

Another unavoidable architectural bulk is knocked back with the addition of a bespoke shaped platform bed

This teenage girls room is filled with feminine patterns, in the fabric of the prettily covered office chair and the delicate wallpaper that backs the work zone and sleeping area.

Flourishes of apple green offset the sweet candyfloss shades elsewhere in the décor.

Kitchens That Make the Cut

The amazing Artica kitchen by Estudiosat, was designed in answer to the challenge set by manufacturerDelta Cocinas to create a kitchen that stepped outside the box from the style of kitchens currently available on the marketplace; looking at the origami-esque geometric folds of these cabinet fronts, it appears as though that old constricting design ‘box’ has been stamped upon, to create one very new and edgy concept.

The cut ice-like surface comes without any compromise on functionality and results in no added company investment, maintaining traditional production processes and still managing to respect the environment.

The visual impact achieved here is also evident in several more kitchen creations from the company, here a few that caught our attention…

The rich wood teamed with industrial metallic shutters here gives a superb contrast, and note the use of differing workbench materials that compliment the two tones of cabinetry along the tall storage run.

Uber-chic wallpaper effect fronts on floating cupboards span an extensive wall run, resulting in an elegant textured focal feature.

Rustic wood grain is offset beautifully by a silky smooth, gloss white backdrop.

A chunky metal bench contradicts the unusual cabinetry faced with delicate art prints.

This zesty color story is tamed in dramatic dark gray, maintaining an expensive, bespoke feel.

Modern Minimalist Black and White Lofts

We found these striking monochrome home concepts by Sergey Baskakov, from Kemerovo, Russia, on his impressive architectural 3D visualization blog 3D Spike. The renders show modernistic spaces cleared of color, but with the contrast turned all the way up to create a sharp distinction between a cool gallery white backdrop and a bold base of simplistic black furniture.

In the first concept, despite it’s heavier coloring, the furniture remains light in silhouette, with a slim-line dining table and a set of metal wire chairs that allow light to shine through the seat and back rests, in a shutter effect.

The dining table lighting feature cascades unobtrusively over the eating area, delicately blending in with the pale walls.

The white, slab front, kitchen units are situated in a single run alongside the dining suite, and form a dividing wall to the entranceway.

Two low profile sofas hug the living space in a large inviting L-shape formation, surrounding a coffee table that echoes the refined dimensions and uncomplicated outline of the nearby dining table.

In the bedroom, the monochromatic drama continues, with theatrical floor to ceiling black drapes that screen off an internal window to the living area, when more privacy is desired, and are repeated at the external window to block out the daylight.

This second apartment design introduces bold wood grains into the mix, which brings great warmth and natural pattern to the home.

We also see the black base note of the furniture utilized as a feature wall color in this concept, with dark chunky dividing walls adding drama to the scheme.

The stark white floor has been replaced with a light blonde hardwood, a tone that continues into a large eight seated dining suite, smart kitchen accessories, and is even used as an accent color in the lounge area in the form of scatter cushions.

A black tubular island extractor fan reflects the design of the oversized pendant shades that hang throughout the home, and atop the standard lamps by the extensive modular sofa.

The last visualization explores the introduction of off-white or palest cream elements, with large expanses of slab front glossy storage units that run from the kitchen through to the living room, morphing from kitchen cabinetry, to an entertainment unit, and a general household stash.

The blonde flooring in this concept comes in the form of marble effect tiles, practical for cooking and eating areas, and is softened by a deep pile rug in the lounge.

An unexpected blast of color arrives in the form of canvass artwork, adding life and movement to the laid back space.
